Just wondering the type of tire and lift any of you were running when you broke an axle. Thinking about dropping mine back to 2 inch once I get these 30 inch tires installed, but I may just wait until something breaks.
I don't like to see this. seems like another weak place in the Viking. I hate to bash it because I like mine just seems like lots of room for improvement. although there is a lot of pros I like it could be just a little stronger for such a big machine.
#1 low gear is to high. bogs down at initial tire break. clutch kit would probably fix it but im not sure. I've seen burnt up clutches stock and modified
#2 front drive shaft. I was in a good cross rut last weekend and it didn't want to turn the tires. when I give it a little more throttle im pretty sure I heard the shaft slip. only more riding will tell
#3 rear shocks suck !!
#4 Viking is to loud even with the sound kit (although better than the rhino)
I'm running 28" bighorns and a 2" lift, I have not had any real trouble yet but I have a feeling its coming. im actually searching for 30" tires at the moment because in more circumstance's than not mine still wont follow a rhino with the same set up.
I shouldve kept my mouth shut. I think my right rear axle is broke. Backed it out of the garage yesterday to load up and take it to jbs for sheeve and slugs and noticed a poping/clicking sound by the right rear wheel. Ive heard the noise before but not as loud and it keeps getting worse
I was just ripping around a little yesterday and had the front drive shaft making some noise. I thought at first I broke a front axle. We cant put all the blame on the Viking though, some guys are starting to mod them pretty heavy.
Yea that is true, they are slow getting out there but I think now we are seeing some people test there limits. I just orders the sti 17" hd4 and 30" outback xlt tires. I guess I will see what happens from there... I think I will be pleased with the set up just hope it holds up. They claim the wheels to be 17 lbs each and the tires 32lbs and 39lbs. still heavier than mudlite, zilla and probably bighorn but not as heavy as most MUD tires.
i had broke a left front axle and also broke a right rear axle. The left front was broke on new years ride this year i just snapped it completey clean break on a hill i was in the bottle pretty deep and the right rear one had ripped a boot last may and rebooted the axle myself and it lasted me a few months so no biggy. I have been replacing them with the Sixty axles. Also Highlifter has the heavy duty axles for $315 a piece out now for front only.
