Hello all,
Anyone have any experience with winches other than Warn? I know there are quite a few on the market. I would like your thoughts. Thank you for the input.

There are several available, including Ramsey, Superwinch and Viper. I just received the Viper and will be installing it in the next few days. It includes a wireless remote, fabric cable and winch cover. The price was far cheaper than a Warn. You might want to check the reviews on the Viper, which is what convinced me of the purchase. Good luck with your choice. Here in Colorado, a winch can be a necessity during hunting season. I prefer having one attached, rather than forgetting a portable winch or having to retrieve it in time of need.
I have always been a fan of the Superwinch products. Have you checked out the UTV4000?

Superwinch, LLC - UTV4000 - 4,000 lbs
I went with the WARN 3000 lb. with synthetic rope and wireless remote mounted on yamaha's multi mount so i can move it from front to rear
there are other out there but i worked at a yamaha shop for a couple years and i know WARN stands by its product
Ive always had Yamaha/Warn Winches on my Yamahas, never an issue.

I got the Superwinch Terra 35 with the synthetic rope off Amazon and I believe I paid $246 for it. Mounted up pretty easy. I have not had to use it yet but it looks good. I mounted it to the EMP mounting bracket. I was going to go with the Terra 45 but according to EMP's information on their bracket it fits most winches up to 4000 lbs. The 3500 should be plenty.
I am going with the front winch mount with the 2 inch receiver and installing a tara 3500 superwinch . I will post some photos when I get it installed.
Ive always had Warn from back in the day, when Yamaha used to have that get a warn winch for $69 or something iike that, and they installed them. We installed 1 winch ourselfs on a 94 Timberwolf and it was a Superwinch, never had any issues with it or the Warns.
I have had over 10 warn winches and was going to go with the warn winch but the super winch tera 3500 has a lifetime warranty and I figured I would give it a try at $168.00 it is 200 less than the warn and has a better warranty. Rapidrobert...

Kfi stealth 4500 lb is what I put on mine . Awesome winch
Viper is great from all the stuff ive read online, and they have Great Customer Service aswell.
Information for all!!
Installed a Warn Vantage 4000 with a factory Brush guard.
FYI,
The Yamaha winch plate will not work on a wide spool winch.
The EMP winch plate will not fit with the factory brush guard, mounts to far forward and the power lug of the winch interferes with the mounting bracket on the brush guard,
The KFI winch plate, third times a charm, works perfectly with the wide spool and the brush guard. Kuddos to these guys.
Save yourself hours of bitchen and go with the KFI winch mount.
superwinch has worked for me for years on all kinds of machines, never had an issue, I agree with KFI mount plate, do it yourself in an hour including a dash mounted rocker
Anybody have any experience with the Harbor Freight Badlands winches yet? They seem to be value priced....

I was going to try one but ended up with the champion 4500... I have drug myself out of mudholes... pulled large firewood trees with it... and I love the wireless remote ... at 155 bucks for this size and a 2yr warranty it was worth just a little more than HF winches.... a buddy of mine put a 2k badlands on his grizzly and he said he wasn't impressed with the tug of it tryn to pull firewood logs for sawing....
My neighbor was thinking of buying the HF winch, and i looked it up, and read alot of bad reviews, and he didn't get one after all. Id go Viper if i was to get an atermarket winch.
I ended up buying a Terra 45 W/synthetic rope from Superwinch($249) with a KFI($45) winch mount...no problems at all...i did redrill the holes in the winch plate positioning them more forward using the superwinch plate as a hole pattern :)...
