Mine made noise today also after switching to 4wd from 2wd in the snow. I'm sure it's the mesh clutch not totally ingaged.

Mine did it again 3/4 times in low diff lock spinning in the snow. The mechanic at my dealer informed me awhile ago that the front drive shaft as a torque coupler . I am thinking NOW this is what I was hearing and not the front diff. I was told its to protect the front diff. Not sure why? Maybe the long length of the drive shaft.

Mine did the same thing the other night. Got pretty stuck and the front diff started to slip. Guess it's a good thing though cuz if not I probably would've broke an axle with these 30s.
