Ready to buy...is the power steering option worth $1K extra?

Ready to buy a Green 2015 Viking and was quoted walk away prices of:

$12,032 no power steering
$12,932 EPS

Will buy on my Louisiana State sales tax free weekend...in September. Is the quoted price OK and is the extra money worth the power steering option?

Power steering is worth every penny. Or, you can do it yourself for $500

Mine is currently without power steering and while I don't know what I'm missing it hasn't been a problem. That having been said I have a PS unit on order to change to so while I'll be able to give more feedback after I add it, for now it hasn't been a problem.

I'm running 30's and had no issues without it. But now that I do have it, I would go without it again

I get a lot of tight situations, a lot of steering in full lock 4wd, makes it so much easier to do with the ps, also if you have kids/girlfriend /wife that want to drive it, it will be a lot easier for them

My wife said "Go with the power steering!" And she told all of our friends at dinner tonight...so, it may be a foregone conclusion

Might want to check on that tax free weekend. Louisiana Sportsman website stated that they had cancelled the hunting tax free weekend. I was gonna wait for the same thing.

From the Louisiana Dept. of Revenue website today....I didn't include all the verbiage for clarity... The legislature debated on whether to cancel the tax holiday this year, but the Second Amendment guys won out again

2015 Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday: September 4-6

The 2015 Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday takes place Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6.

Act 453 of the 2009 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature enacted the "Annual Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Holiday Act" that provides an exemption from state and local sales and use taxes on individuals' purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies on the first Friday through Sunday of each September.

Purchases Eligible for Exemption

Off-road vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles designed and intended primarily for hunting; the exemption does not apply to golf carts, go-carts, dirt bikes, mini-bikes, motorcycles, tractors, motor vehicles which may be legally driven on the streets and highways of Louisiana, or heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, backhoes and bulldozers;

The $900 is at dealers cost. So get it now. I have a Non EPS and have no problems at all. However looking back I would get it. Now to offset some of the cost the dealer can afford to lower the overall price. You can save at least another $500 if you look out of state (Miss,and Ala)

If you can me a complete breakdown of the price I should be able to give you a better idea. Good Luck

I agree with rob! Did the install myself and I believe works better than the stock unit. I have driven both.

+++1 do it yourself, aint hard ifin you's kordnated! Seriously though do you need it no, but want it yes and the wife will thank you and its nice in fourwheel and diff lock.

Well guys...

Bought the EPS, added a sound system and winch...couldn't be happier....working on the sound mitigation issue now.

brought the se really pleased with the results. I installed a kicker 6.5" tube (4) with a 8" jl audio sub and with a 1200 watt powerbass amp. the sound Is amazing

I don't have PS on mine but I wish I did, so when I get some money saved up that is the 3rd thing I'm getting!!!
