Hey guys. I just purchased my brand new blue Viking the other day and love it. Day after I got it I took it up north with my father and friend and went down this newly made logging trail. It was pretty damn rough but had no issues.

Somehow I managed to put a stick into my rad causing it to come off the holder and spew coolant all over. I took it to my local rad shop and they managed to fix it however there is a small pinhole still in it.

I found out 2 things:

It costs 320$ for a brand new rad.

I need to find a Rad guard badly.

can anyone help?

Yamaha make a brush guard that should keep this problem from happening again and it looks pretty good.
I really don't think that the brush guard will deflect anything coming in direct contact with the rad. it definitely needs to be a rad guard.

I don't think the chance of that happening is very high! I think you mainly got unlucky, but it would be nice if someone made some guards. Do you know anyone with a plasma table? If so, they could probably cut out a cool guard like some of the other UTVs run.

Yeah if you had an issue with it being unprotected then I'm sure someone will make a guard. I will keep my eye out for you.

Thanks a ton.

Im sure one of the pre-made ones for other sxs could be worked to fit. Just have to do some testing in the mean time.

Go to lowes and buy some of this wire mesh, cut it to size and install in front of your radiator...

Here u can see where the guard has already saved my radiator, you'll notice two pine limbs that were deflected, I'm laying in front of my right front tire looking up at radiator

Interesting.... I didn't even think to protect the radiator... but it makes sense. I run in areas with tons of sticks... A hole in the radiator could really mess up a guys day.
