Winch installation issue

Just started installing a superwinch terra 45 on my viking and need to know what color wire is the positive lead coming out of the ignition switch. You have to splice to that wire so that the winch won't draw from the battery when turned off. If anyone knows the correct wire that would be awesome I don't have a service manual.

I've got the solution over on the other Viking forum. :)

ill take some picks of my installation in a lil bit but what I ended up doing was taking the red wire from both the rocker switch and remote and ran them over to the light switch and spliced it in with the hot wire there its easier to get to. Everything worked out well winch will work with the key in on position and running and doesnt when key is off.

That would be great! Hopefully it will help a lot of other people looking to do the same install :)
Glad you got it resolved, we installed our all of our accessories, wasnt to bad, and the saving of $$$ from us doing, i was able to buy more mods!!!!
Hey Lineman what winch mount did you use? any issues with that?...That is the winch I may end up buying...thx for the info
I have terra 4.5 on mine. I used Yamaha factory mount had drill different holes because it set up for warn 3.5 but I used Yamaha pre cut wire kit worked perfect!!!!!
I'll rarely use my winch, but i really wanted to go 4500, thats what i had on my Ranger, but i had put money down on the Viking, and i got the first one my dealer recieved. So when i ordered accessories, i really didnt know what size winch would fit at the time, so i just went with what i knew would work, so i went with the Yamaha 3500. If 3500 isnt ever enough, ive got a snactchblock for that.
I would think a 3500 would be plenty, but it's always nice to have more if you can.
Id think so as well. Cant believe Yamaha doesn't sell a 4500 anyways, not like Warn dont make one.
They probably try and balance the cost as to not run people off by offering the larger 4500 standard?
I just installed the relay for my winch today. I mounted it on the frame rail right behind the speedometer because of the EPS I could not put it under the hood. I tapped into the yellow wire for the "Helmet" light since it comes on with the ignition and doesn't shut off.

Sounds like another good place to tap into. Thanks for sharing!
Pull your power off of the accessory power point.
See my post on winch mounts. Will save you hours!!!

there is a white wire coming out of the bottom of the fuse box I believe it says ignition, it is only hot when the key is on.I tied into it and it works great, with warn 3500 lb winch pro vantage. daddy
